Tory deputy chairman Lee Anderson has been slammed with vile abuse online after kindly donating money to a children’s cancer charity.
The MP for Ashfield made a £100 donation to Abbie’s Army, a brain tumour research charity, as part of a campaign run by GB News commentator Adam Brooks.
He and Mr Brooks publicly shared the donation on X (formerly known as Twitter), but commenters quickly descended on the post to fire abuse at the outspoke politician.
Instead of praising the MP for donating to the charity, several people left stinging political criticism below his declaration.
In one comment, an X user called the deputy chairman an “absolute melt” and a “sad, strange little man”.

Mr Anderson’s original Tweet was a response to Mr Brooks, who posted a screenshot of his £100 donation on JustGiving and thanked him for the money.
The MP responded by saying he was “proud” of the commentator, who was raising money in the memory of Isla Winn, a terminally ill young girl who died from DIPG Brain cancer earlier this year.
But several X users were less receptive to the donation, with one account, Brexit Fails, bizarrely accusing Mr Anderson that the donation was “added to the expense claim no doubt”.
Several others said he should have donated much more to the charity.

Another chimed in, saying: “Lee is as generous as he is likeable. Bearing in mind he earns £100,000 to be on ‘TV’ and over £87,000 as a politician.”
One user, JD, went a step further when he levelled particularly brutal criticism on Mr Anderson.
They said: “Lee, you’re still an absolute melt. Just a collection of personality flaws masquerading as a person.
“I expected absolutely nothing from you as an MP and I’m still utterly disappointed. You’re a sad, strange little man and you have my pity.”

A third user criticised the donation, again bringing up the MP’s salary from his multiple positions.
They said: “£100 is that it? GB news is paying you £100k a year – come on Lee step up and donate more.”
Mr Anderson is among the high-paid members of Parliament and earns a six-figure salary from his positions as MP and presenter on his own GB News show.
GB News reportedly pays him £100,000 per year, while the base MP salary nets politicians £86,584 as of April 2023.
