Russian Zoopark-1 destroyed by Ukrainian Forces
An elite Russian radar system has been blown to pieces in a Ukrainian airstrike captured in dramatic footage shared online.
Ukrainian and Russian troops continue to fight as Kyiv’s counteroffensive nears its end.
Ukraine’s troops have not made the gains many in the country had hoped they would, but the destruction of Russia’s radar system will be seen as an important boost.
Sharing the footage online, Anton Gerashchenko, advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, said the sophisticated tech was worth over $10million.
He posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Russian Zoopark-1 complex was destroyed in the Donetsk direction by Ukrainian Special Operations Forces.
“Zoopark-1 is a radar complex for reconnaissance and fire control (counter-battery radar). It is intended for reconnaissance of the position of firepower, calculation of projectile and missile trajectories, monitoring of airspace and control of drones.
“It is reportedly worth over $10 million.
“Glory to Ukrainian Warriors!”
This comes after reports indicated Ukraine destroyed nine helicopters at Russian airbases in Berdyansk and Luhansk.
Nine helicopters were destroyed, including seven Ka52 and two Mi8 helicopters, while a further eight Ka-52s and seven Mi-8s were damaged.
Ukrainian troops have also enjoyed small wins the Black Sea, forcing Russia’s naval fleet to withdraw.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned on Tuesday that Russia’s naval assets are no longer safe.
He added: “The Russian fleet is no longer capable of operating in the western part of the Black Sea and is gradually retreating from Crimea. This is a historic achievement.”

Russia annexed Crimea in 2014 and has occupied the territory since.
On Crimea, Zelensky added: “We have not yet gained full fire control over Crimea and surrounding waters, but we will. This a question of time.”
Zelensky’s optimism comes as Russia claims to have destroyed three unmanned Ukrainian boats in the northern part of the Black Sea near Crimea.
Russia’s defence ministry said: “Anti-sabotage missiles and bombs hit the area where the unmanned boats were detected.”
