Female cop ‘sexually assaulted woman by putting hand up skirt on night out’

A female police officer allegedly put her hand up a woman's skirt after drinking Prosecco on a night out.

Wimbledon Magistrates' Court heard PC Rachel Bright, 45, be charged with sexual assault on Tuesday morning for an incident in December 2022. The Metropolitan Police officer is accused of complimenting a woman on her body before putting her hand up her skirt in Wandsworth.

It was heard at Wimbledon Magistrates, that PC Bright of the South West Command Unit had been drinking Prosecco and "gradually became more inappropriate towards the complainant".

The alleged victim also accuses PC Bright of "acting in an overtly affectionate manner" towards her. The hearing will pick up again on November 6 at Kingston Crown Court.

Until then, PC Bright has been released on bail, provided she doesn't contact the complainant.

The Met confirmed PC Bright was not on duty during the alleged night out incident. She's since been suspended from duty following the charge.

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards are aware.
