Motorcyclist dies after Friday crash in Aurora

A motorcyclist died Sunday after he was hit Friday by a driver at an Aurora intersection.

The crash happened Friday afternoon just before 4:30 p.m. in the 400 block of South Abilene Street, Aurora police said in a Tuesday news release.

A man riding a motorcycle was driving north on Abilene when the driver of a Honda SUV turned left from a shopping center parking lot.

Both the man and the SUV driver, a woman, were taken to a hospital. The woman was treated and released, and the man died Sunday afternoon, police said.

“A left turn violation by the driver of the Honda is considered a possible contributing factor of the crash,” according to the news release. “As is vehicle speed on the part of the motorcycle rider.”

The official cause will be determined by a reconstruction.
