Vladimir Putin makes claims about Ukrainian counteroffensive
A top Ukrainian official has warned the “whole world” should be concerned about infighting in the US Congress as it likely benefits Vladimir Putin’s “axis of evil”.
Speaking exclusively to Daily Express US, Ukraine Invest CEO Sergiy Tsivkach said that despite Republican Congress members objecting to sending aid to Ukraine, he had faith that the US would continue to support the war effort.
He said: “The whole world should be worried about that. Ukraine, at the moment, is not only fighting for our territory, we are fighting for Democratic principles and we are fighting against the threat of tyranny throughout the world.
“We hear President Biden say that ‘support for Ukraine will not end’ and that the US and all international partners will [stand] with Ukraine until the end of the war, until our victory, until the end of this illegal military invasion.”

In the US, Congress is in chaos after a small group of Republicans launched a move to oust House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Uncertainty now looms over who will replace him.
Before his ousting, he was able to fund a short-term spending bill to keep the US government from shutting down – that bill, however, didn’t include $6 billion (£ 4.93 billion) in funding earmarked for Ukraine.
Mr. Tsivkach argued that Ukraine was not only fighting for its right to exist but for Democracy around the world citing the “axis of evil” Putin had surrounded himself with.
He added: “We are certain that Democracy will prevail on our frontlines but also throughout the world. We will jointly manage to fight against this axis of evil because, as you can see, Russia has been joined by some very undemocratic countries that have been under sanctions for many years.
“If we are talking about the war in Ukraine, we need to look at this from a global perspective.”

After launching his war in Ukraine and becoming entrenched as a global pariah, Putin turned to countries which have been deemed “rogue states” by pundits.
Already a close ally of the dictatorial Assad regime in Syria, Russia turned to mutual ally Iran for military hardware, including the Shahed-136 drones which it uses almost daily to attack Ukrainian military and civilian targets.
Earlier this month, North Korean despot Kim Jong-un met with Putin presumably to trade Russian weapons and ammunition for aid and technology.
As Russia befriends the West’s enemies, it remains to be seen how the chaos in Congress will pan out and how it will affect US aid to Ukraine.
