Boozed-up Brits may face being banned from the sun-soaked Balearic Islands under bombshell new proposals being considered by regional politicians.
Jaume Bauza, the Head of Tourism for the islands, appeared to confirm on Tuesday night that badly-behaved British holidaymakers may be blacklisted if they defy stringent new regulations.
Rules around drunk tourists were brought in at the start of 2020 for well-known party hotspots like Magaluf in Majorca and the West End of San Antonio in Ibiza.
They included eye-watering £50,000 fines for tourists caught jumping off their hotel balconies and restrictions on the amount of alcohol served with meals at all-inclusive hotels.
In a clever ploy to swerve negative connotations, the regional government has signalled that it plans to change the name of the ‘Decree against tourism excesses’ to that of ‘responsible tourism’.

The new plan will also extend the reach of the regulations to include all four islands, rather than simply specific streets in Magaluf and San Antonio.
However, in another announcement yesterday, Mr Bauza also appeared to suggest, amongst other things, that tourists that broke the new rules may be put on a flight home and banned from the islands for a period of time.
Provisions already exist to expel tourists that jump between hotel balconies from their accommodation.
During a meeting of the Commission for the Promotion of Civism in Tourist Zones the Balearics’ Head of Tourism confirmed that the blacklist idea was being explored.

When pushed by local reporters about the possibility of kicking antisocial tourists out and blocking their re-entry, Mr Bauza said that it would depend on the “crime or infraction committed”.
Local outlet Diario de Ibiza quoted him as saying: “I’ve expressed the master lines and nothing’s being ruled out or confirmed at this stage.
“Then it will need to have a legal framework.
“The main thing is to target companies as well, but above all those people who behave in a way that is not tolerable, here or anywhere.”
In August it became clear that four out of the five tourists slapped with five-figure fines during the summer for clambering between hotel balconies were British.
Calvia Council, the authority responsible for the party resort, said on August 21 that five foreign nationals had been fined for “balconing”.
Each of the offending foreigners were fined €36,000 (£30,720) and booted out of their hotels.
