The morning after tying the knot, Lisa and her new husband jetted off from London to Rome to embark on their romantic getaway with the intention of visiting all the famous landmarks and feasting on Italian delicacies.
But they were met with their first stumbling block early on.
Lisa, who found out she was pregnant just a few weeks before the wedding, told Insider: ‘I was exhausted from socializing and dealing with morning sickness… all I wanted to do was sleep — growing a baby is pretty exhausting.’
She candidly revealed that since it was her first child she was riddled with worry about what she could and could not eat during pregnancy.
This meant that rather than sampling the best of the food and drink that the tourist hotspot had to offer, she only ‘hunted for fruit and vegetables.’
In the days that followed, Lisa and her husband ‘mustered the energy to go sightseeing’ – mainly on foot.
She wrote that it was ‘challenging to do while battling nausea in an August heat wave.’
And things went further downhill after a pickpocket stole her husband’s laptop.

The pair later welcomed a healthy baby boy for adding another son to their brood a few years later
‘Spending half the day filing a police report was not the best start to the trip I’d envisioned all these years,’ Lisa conceded.

Lisa and her husband decided to hire a car to take in the scenery at spots including Sorrento, Positano and Capri.
But, before setting off, they drove through the Italian capital to collect their bags form the hotel for check out.
She wrote: ‘Unfortunately, we didn’t realize we’d gone through a Limited Traffic Zone, a restricted area common in older European cities that you need permission to drive through.
‘We received a hefty fine that we ignored because we thought it was a scam. The debt-collection letters that followed would prove it wasn’t.’
Lisa, who is also a trained music therapist, concluded: ‘I dreamed about visiting Italy for years, but I guess expectations can never quite live up to reality.’
