Tory MP Stephen Hammond claims today’s a ‘lose-lose’ for Suella
Suella Braverman last night unleashed chaos in the Tory Party by releasing an extraordinary letter in which she accused Rishi Sunak of “magical thinking” over the Government’s controversial Rwanda deportation policy to deal with illegal migration.
Today, Supreme Court judges will rule on whether or not the plan, which has been met with vociferous opposition from left-wing lawyers and campaigners, can be given the green light.
But the crunch decision comes just hours after Mrs Braverman’s scathing attack on the Prime Minister, with the former Home Secretary, now twice sacked from the role, accusing Mr Sunak of a “betrayal” over his promise to stop the small boats.
Mrs Braverman also referred in her letter to “a document with clear terms to which you agreed in October 2022 during your second leadership campaign” which she is thought to be prepared to release in order to inflict maximum damage upon the PM.

Today’s crunch decision by the Supreme Court may go in the Government’s favour, but many think it won’t be the last time we see a courtroom showdown over the Rwanda policy.
This morning, immigration barrister Colin Yeo has warned that opponents of the policy will “almost inevitably” try to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.
If the Supreme Court rules against the Government, expect to swiftly here those on the right calling for Britain to leave the ECHR in order to allow deportations to go ahead.
