Two SNP politicians have reportedly been discovered having a steamy affair throughout lockdown, despite the Scottish government’s stay-at-home rules.
In echoes of Matt Hancock’s dalliance with aide Gina Coladangelo, which saw him quit when the revelation came to light, texts were reportedly found on a mobile phone proving the rule-breaking hookups.
According to the Mail Online, the pair were caught cheating when their text exchanges were discovered between them.
A “devastated” husband of one of the elected representatives told the website that the discovery had “wrecked” his marriage.
The affair is understood to have before the pandemic, but then continued throughout 2020 while Scotland was under tough lockdown restrictions.

The Mail knows the names of the pair, but is not naming them at this stage for legal reasons.
The heartbroken husband said that he has been left feeling afraid for his own safety and that of his family if he went public about his partner’s infidelity.
He said: “I am fearful about the repercussions if I did, and I have to protect my family at all costs. That’s the most important thing for me.
“However, I’m relieved that people now know that there was an affair. The whole thing has been devastating for me.”
A source in Holyrood has said rumours about the affair have been well-known around Holyrood and in Edinburgh.

They said: “There were a lot of rumours about the affair and the politician’s other half was well aware of them, but they didn’t want to do anything without evidence.
“It all came to a head with these texts.”
The revelation is yet another headache for beleaguered SNP leader Humza Yousaf, who has had to deal with a myriad scandals since taking over from Nicola Sturgeon earlier this year.
In a poll last night, the party once again found themselves trailing behind Labour.
Redfield Wilton found Labour on 36 percent, up 4 points, and the SNP on 34 percent, down 2.
The poll is the first Labour has been ahead of the SNP since June 2014.
It is believed the SNP are aware of the two politicians involved in the affair, and their names and details are being ‘discussed’ within the party.
Responding to Matt Hancock’s Covid rule-breaking affair, SNP MP Kirsten Oswald said: “While aspects of this may be private, public appointments, use of taxpayers’ money and conflicts of interest warrant proper scrutiny”.
