Farage says he left I’m a Celeb ‘fitter and stronger’ than ever
Nigel Farage appears to be on a roll after defying his doubters with his performance on I’m A Celebrity and beating Rishi Sunak in a recent popularity survey.
The former Ukip leader has expressed his surprise at the “astonishing” numbers in recent polling, which found he had a positive net popularity rating of 18 compared to the Prime Minister’s net negative of minus three.
Will Mr Farage be in for another surprise once Express readers have their say? He has done well in ITV’s Jungle and some Tory MPs recognise his fitness for government by suggesting him as Home Secretary, but what about higher office?
Vote below on whether you think he has what it takes to do a better job than Mr Sunak in Number 10.
The recent survey by JL Partners found Mr Farage was not only more popular than Mr Sunak among Tory voters but also the wider public.
Reacting to the survey, he said: “Well, have you seen the polling has been released overnight? I’m absolutely astonished by it, I’ve just seen some online, suggesting that amongst 2019 Conservative voters, my approval rating has risen 20 percent in my time in the jungle, putting me 21 percent ahead of Rishi.
“Well, it’s all very flattering, a little bit bewildering. It’s gonna take some time for me to sort of really take it on board. But fascinating, right?”
The polling of 2,000 people was carried out on November 17 and then again on December 10 after Mr Farage reached the final of I’m A Celebrity and came third.
