Driver is ‘voice of entitlement’ over speed cameras says expert
British drivers could be caught out by new roadside cameras which could soon be fitted across the UK, according to experts.
Gary Digva, founder of Road Angel, is pushing for officials to change driving laws and fit anti-braking cameras after Spain adopted the technology.
The cameras will penalise drivers who brake harshly to avoid being caught by speed cameras.
Technology will also be able to determine if a motorist then speeds up seconds after passing detectors.
The system will use laser technology in a mobile radar device located just in front of fixed speed cameras.

A second device is also fitted around a kilometre from a fixed camera to detect motorists who put their foot down moments later.
The anti-braking cameras were trialled in Spain in early 2020 and have now been given the green light in the Navarra region.
However, the new tool is likely to see dozens of drivers issued heavy fines with Mr Digva admitting the cameras will “penalise more motorists” than the current technology allows.
He explained: “If introduced, these devices will catch and penalise more speeding motorists, encouraging more drivers to stick to legal limits and improve road safety.

“These shocking statistics alone should encourage motorists to think twice before speeding, yet it’s safe to say that the new technology will penalise even more motorists who are driving in excess of the legal limit, therefore helping to keep UK roads safer for all users.”
Drivers caught out by the tools would be slapped with speeding offences similar to fixed cameras.
In the UK, this would mean offenders would be issued a £100 fine and three penalty points on their driving licence.
However, this could increase to £2.500 and even a driving ban if motorists exceed 100mph.
But, Mr Digva believes the anti-braking cameras would likely have a dramatic boost to road safety.
He concluded: “By capturing drivers who slam on the brakes before passing the fixed speed camera, as well as using technology to apprehend motorists who speed up again after the camera, the new radar devices will be able to penalise many more motorists than current systems.
“Although the fight goes on to reduce incidences of speeding on UK roads and accidents resulting from excess speed we believe introducing this new technology to the UK will help keep roads safer.”
