Maruti’s first electric SUV to be launched in FY2024-25

Toyota has also revealed its version of the eVX. The electric SUV concept is called the Urban SUV.

Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that it will launch its first electric vehicle in the Indian market in FY2024-25.

Maruti Suzuki recently revealed that its upcoming electric SUV will be manufactured in Gujarat. The Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG) facility at Hansalpur, will be upgraded for this purpose.

According to Rahul Bharti, Executive Director (Corporate Affairs) of Maruti Suzuki, the Hansalpur facility currently has three plants – A, B and C. To manufacture the EV, a new plant will be added with an investment of Rs 3,100 crore.

Bharti also revealed that the EV will be powered by a 60 kWh battery pack offering a range of 550 km. The made-in-India EV will also be exported to global markets.

Maruti Suzuki’s first EV will be based on the eVX concept that was showcased at Auto Expo 2023. Toyota has also revealed its version of the eVX. The electric SUV concept is called the Urban SUV.
