X – formerly Twitter – suffered widespread outages on Thursday in several countries on both its social media app and website, impacting tens of thousands of users.<\/p>\n

Frustrated users in countries including the UK, US and India were logging onto the hugely popular social media platform – owned by multi-billionaire Elon Musk – only to be presented with a message reading “Welcome to X”, instead of the regular tweets on their feed.<\/p>\n

The latest data from Downdetector.com showed there had been more than There have been over 70,000 reports of problems on the platform from across multiple countries since 5.30am.<\/p>\n

Those users on X’s blue tick premium subscription service, X Pro, were also encountering problems, with their feeds simply showing a message that read: “Waiting for posts.”<\/p>\n

By 7am, the X social media app and website appeared to be returning to normal for some users.<\/p>\n

The reason behind the global outage remains unclear, with X yet to publicly comment on the issues.<\/p>\n
