An urgent search was launched after a two-year-old boy was snatched from a street in Australia before he was found nine hours later – 186 miles away.<\/p>\n

An amber alert was issued by New South Wales Police after\u00a0Jax Kossen-Wilson was taken from his grandmother in Coffs Harbour just after 2pm on Friday local time.<\/p>\n

He was snatched by a woman and a man driving a black Volkswagen Golf who used the vehicle to drive him away from the scene. Police said the man and woman were known to the toddler.<\/p>\n

An amber alert is typically issued in time-critical situations after the abduction of a child under 18 years of age, according to police in Australia.<\/p>\n

Police will reasonably suspect there is an “imminent risk of death or serious harm” to the person.<\/p>\n

He was finally tracked down with the couple 186 miles away in Tenterfield, close to the NSW-Queensland border in the Granite Belt region, at 11.30pm on Friday night.<\/p>\n

After he was found safe and well, police said a 35-year-old woman and 37-year-old man were both being held in custody. The pair had allegedly assaulted his grandmother while abducting the toddler.<\/p>\n

Before they managed to trace the youngster, police said the couple and Jax could have also been in a white van while travelling in the Inverell and Tenterfield region<\/p>\n

The amber alert was broadcast every 15 minutes while the manhunt was ongoing.<\/p>\n
