Fuerteventura, often described as the “Quiet Island” of the Canaries, is making waves in the tourism industry as it competes for attention against its more famous neighbours – Tenerife, Lanzarote, and Gran Canaria.

While these Spanish islands have long been the go-to destinations for sun-seekers and adventure enthusiasts, Fuerteventura boasts some of the world’s best beaches and unique landscapes, hoping to lure more visitors to its serene shores.

The island has seen a notable increase in tourist numbers in recent years, with its golden sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and diverse landscapes attracting visitors seeking a more tranquil escape.

Despite its undeniable charm, Fuerteventura’s tourist numbers still pale in comparison to the tourism giants of the Canaries.

Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, continues to reign supreme as the most visited island, boasting a diverse range of attractions from the vibrant nightlife of Playa de las Américas to the cultural richness of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The island is renowned for its stunning beaches, including Playa de Corralejo, which consistently ranks among the best in the world. The vast sand dunes of Corralejo National Park create a mesmerising desert-like landscape, providing a unique contrast to the lush surroundings found on other Canary Islands.

Travellers on TripAdvisor have left glowing reviews, underscoring the island’s unique charm.

One reviewer wrote: “Spectacular. Visited this area twice during my stay in Corralejo. Fantastic beach and spectacular sand dunes which was worth the taxi ride from Corralejo centre alone. There are lots of nudists walking around, both on the beach, mainly from the second lifeguard Station all the way to, and including the sand dunes. Its all very natural with clothed, semi-clothed, and naked people seemingly oblivious to each other.

Don’t miss… “Only the narrow-minded would find offence in people walking around naked in this wonderful environment.”

Another echoed the sentiment, writing: “A truly stunning part of Fuerteventura. The unspoiled natural wonder is a must-see when visiting Fuerteventura.

“The park is easily accessed from Corralejo and has a nice beach that is popular with surfers at its Southern access. Not to be missed in Fuerteventura.”
