Bizarre claims that Russian President Vladimir Putin has died were actually predicted months before by a political expert.

The Daily Star has been following the hysteria surrounding Putin's alleged recent death – something constantly denied by the Kremlin – but conspiracies remain rife of a lookalike replacing him in the seat of power. The source, posting on Telegram channel General SVR, has claimed in great detail that Putin had a heart attack while at his Valdai home, and has been sitting in a food freezer ever since.

The death was turned into an official state secret, forcing three denials out of the Kremlin in the weeks after it all came out. However, in September, a Russian political expert actually claimed that Putin would be dead “before the end of Autumn”, and his comments have no resurfaced as potential evidence that the claims could in fact be real.

Valery Solovey made the bold claim during an interview with Russian opposition YouTube channel Khodorkovsky Live. He said, almost two full months before the Telegram source's claimed surface, that Putin was "terminally ill" and at death's door.

He claimed: “As soon as Putin dies, we will know about it in a few hours. “This will be reported, we will find out about this – because there are too many interested parties, both outside Russia and in Russia itself, for this information to become public knowledge.

“This will happen before the end of autumn.” He didn't specify what was going to kill him, however.
