Heavy winds and rain looks set to batter the United Kingdom in the coming week as the weather forecast paints a bleak picture.

The Met Office has forecast gales across southern and western counties in England and Wales, reports The Mirror. Its long-range forecast warns Brits of grim, wet and windy weather throughout the next few days.

A yellow weather warning has already been issued for Northern Ireland on Monday. And even when the downpours pass, it will become rainy and windy elsewhere in the back end of the week.

The Met Office forecast states: “This period is likely to remain generally unsettled with spells of wet and windy weather crossing most areas, but especially southern and western parts of the UK – and it could be very windy at first.
