The city shares its name with the Bourdeaux region which in turn shares the name of the wine produced there.<\/p>\n

Bourdeaux city is considered the world capital of wine and is home to the world\u2019s main wine fair.<\/p>\n

It is believed that the wine which made the region famous was introduced by the Romans for local consumption.<\/p>\n

Alongside wine, Bourdeaux is also known as a culinary hub serving some of the world\u2019s finest food.<\/p>\n

As a result, the city is popular with tourists who travel there in their millions every year, but face going through Europe\u2019s worst airport.<\/p>\n

According to Holidu,\u00a0Bordeaux-M\u00e9rignac Airport is the worst airport in Europe. They said: \u201cBordeaux-M\u00e9rignac Airport in France hits our number one spot with an average Google rating of 2.7.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe main complaints about this airport were the small size with lack of seating for travellers.\u201d<\/p>\n
