A woman was savaged by a shark in a horror attack as emergency services flocked to a crowded beach.<\/p>\n
The 32-year-old woman was attacked near Port Noarlunga in Adelaide, Australia today (Friday, November 10). Medics were called to the scene shortly after 1 pm (local time).<\/p>\n
The unnamed victim was taken to Flinders Medical Centre. It's understood she suffered injuries to her face and scalp following the shark bite.<\/p>\n

According to 9News, the ambulance service stated she has been described as "extremely serious" and "life-threatening". The publication added they are likely to require surgery.<\/p>\n
A police spokesperson said: "Police with the assistance of other emergency services evacuated the water while a search to locate the shark was undertaken. Members of the public have since returned to the water after the search failed to locate the shark. "<\/p>\n

The victim was free-diving with friends when the shark struck. The beach was also full of school kids in aquatic lessons \u2013 some of whom witnessed the woman being bitten on the head.<\/p>\n
Swimmer Mason Corbett told the publication: "Some of the kids did see it, we've been talking to a few of them and they saw her face all bloodied." It is the fourth shark attack off the South Australian coast this year.<\/p>\n
