Storm Ciaran: Met Office forecasts continued disruption<\/h3>\n

Bonfire Night celebrations have been thrown into chaos after Storm Ciaran brought devastating gusts of 100mph and left thousands of homes without power.<\/p>\n

Firework displays across the country have been called off as adverse weather conditions are set to continue over the next few days as the after-effects of the devastating Storm Ciaran rock the nation.<\/p>\n

Six Guy Fawkes festivities have been called off in London, as well as displays in Manchester, Nottingham and Gravesend, and many more this Sunday.<\/p>\n

Many councils have also said they will be cancelling their event due to budget cuts.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Express.co.uk, senior meteorologist for British Weather Services Jim Dale has said it is key to check the weather forecast before heading out, though many will need to bring their umbrellas if they hope to enjoy Bonfire Night outdoors.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cTonight, I\u2019d say go and enjoy. We should expect just a few leftover showers here and there, but wrap up well, and for most take your wellies.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the meteorologist added that tomorrow is a different story, with more rain and showers expected for many.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThe rain is set to be long-lasting with brisk winds in the central southern and southeast of England with some local flooding also a possibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe central belt of Scotland and the northeast of England should also see some evening rain and breezy weather.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Dale went on to say that Sunday evening will be breezy for many, and only bring a few showers for those in the west and south, adding: \u201cTo sum up – dress well, pick your moment, pick your place, and keep tabs on the forecasts and the radar!\u201d<\/p>\n

The threat of flooding remains high in the south of England as almost 90 flood warnings are in place with more than 235 flood alerts stretching up through the country.<\/p>\n

The extreme weather looks set to bring downpours and strong winds to Scotland and parts of northern England today.<\/p>\n
