The travel industry is back with a boom following the pandemic. British citizens made over 71 million visits abroad in 2022.

According to statistics from finder, two thirds of Britons were planning to holiday abroad in 2023. But while Spain and France are top of the destination list, there are a few hotspots that are far less visited.

Several European hotspots including Monaco and Montenegro have many more tourists than residents, according to UNWTO figures.

At the other end of the scale is Bangladesh. Although it had more than 320,000 overnight tourists in 2019, the South Asian country has a population of 169m.

This ratio makes Bangladesh one of the least touristy countries on earth and travellers are unlikely to bump into many other foreign visitors on their trip.
