Boozed-up Brits may face being banned from the sun-soaked Balearic Islands under bombshell new proposals being considered by regional politicians.<\/p>\n
Jaume Bauza, the Head of Tourism for the islands, appeared to confirm on Tuesday night that badly-behaved British holidaymakers may be blacklisted if they defy stringent new regulations.<\/p>\n
Rules around drunk tourists were brought in at the start of 2020 for well-known party hotspots like Magaluf in Majorca and the West End of San Antonio in Ibiza.<\/p>\n
They included eye-watering \u00a350,000 fines for tourists caught jumping off their hotel balconies and restrictions on the amount of alcohol served with meals at all-inclusive hotels.<\/p>\n
In a clever ploy to swerve negative connotations, the regional government has signalled that it plans to change the name of the \u2018Decree against tourism excesses\u2019 to that of \u2018responsible tourism\u2019.<\/p>\n

More info<\/p>\n When pushed by local reporters about the possibility of kicking antisocial tourists out and blocking their re-entry, Mr Bauza said that it would depend on the \u201ccrime or infraction committed\u201d.<\/p>\n Local outlet Diario de Ibiza quoted him as saying: \u201cI’ve expressed the master lines and nothing’s being ruled out or confirmed at this stage.<\/p>\n \u201cThen it will need to have a legal framework.<\/p>\n \u201cThe main thing is to target companies as well, but above all those people who behave in a way that is not tolerable, here or anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n In August it became clear that four out of the five tourists slapped with five-figure fines during the summer for clambering between hotel balconies were British.<\/p>\n Calvia Council, the authority responsible for the party resort, said on August 21 that five foreign nationals had been fined for \u201cbalconing\u201d.<\/p>\n Each of the offending foreigners were fined \u20ac36,000 (\u00a330,720) and booted out of their hotels.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/78\/590x\/secondary\/5018387.jpg?r=1697614494782\")
