York, in England, is one of the most haunted places in the UK<\/p>\n
It\u2019s October which can only mean one thing\u2026\u00a0spooky season is upon us. So, grab yourself a pumpkin spiced latte, put on your finest knitwear and get yourself to one of the UK\u2019s most haunted destinations.<\/p>\n
The travel researchers at Harbour Holidays have compiled a list of the UK\u2019s 10 most gruesome getaways according to TikTok, check them out\u2026 if you dare.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not just the most haunted UK destination with 1.2 billion views on TikTok, but did you know York is the most haunted city in the whole of Europe? Well, according to the International Ghost Research Foundation – it is.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A city rich in history, from the Vikings to the Normans, the Romans to the Victorians, there have been plenty of gruesome goings on throughout the city\u2019s long and spooky existence. There are supposedly over 500 within the ancient city walls\u2026 will you be lucky, or unlucky, enough to experience one?<\/p>\n

You have to wonder, is the walled city of Chester trying to keep the ghosts in, or you out? Throughout the ages, this spooky city has experienced some very violent history, from the roman legions stationed there – one of whom still haunts the city walls, to the bloody civil war which ended in the King\u2019s execution.\u00a0<\/p>\n
If you want to get up close and personal with one of the city\u2019s many ghosts, then check out The Pied Bull. Dating back to the 1100s, the city\u2019s oldest pub plays host to many a ghost, from the cellar right up to the guest rooms.<\/p>\n

A sleepy fishing village, perhaps most famous for being the setting for Bram Stoker\u2019s Dracula, may well be spookier than fiction.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Another picturesque location with some hideous history, the medieval city of Canterbury played host to one of England\u2019s most infamous and bloody murders.<\/p>\n
In 1170, the then archbishop Thomas Becket was brutally beheaded and murdered in Canterbury Cathedral by the King\u2019s knights. Despite his savage demise, visitors claim to have seen Thomas floating above his tomb.<\/p>\n
If you fancy encountering some more ghosts, you\u2019re in luck. Head to Tiny Tim\u2019s tearoom to enjoy a drink with some ghostly children, or knock back a haunted pint at the city\u2019s most supernatural pub, Tyler\u2019s Kiln.<\/p>\n
