A woman had her face mauled while trying to save her dogs from a pair of American XL bully breed dogs.<\/p>\n

Christine Potts and her friend Tracey Heyhurst attempted to wrestle the two beasts in the busy park. But their efforts were in vain, as the animals only halted their attack when they tired and wandered off.<\/p>\n

Moments later, one of the XL bullies reportedly attacked another dog at Willow Park in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside. Christine had her face and head bitten and is believed to have broken her nose during the initial attack.<\/p>\n

Christine and Tracey were sat on a park bench after walking their dogs \u2013 Rosie, a 16-year-old West Highland Terrier, and Mylo, a two-year-old Papillion. They recalled hearing a woman scream moments before the dogs pounced.<\/p>\n

According to reports, The XL Bullies were not on a lead at the time of the attack. One of the beasts grabbed Rosie by the neck, clamping its powerful jaws on her.<\/p>\n

In an interview with The Mirror, Tracey told how she kicked and punched the huge pet while it attacked Rosie. But her efforts \u201cdid not do anything at all\u201d.<\/p>\n

It was then the second XL Bully made a move for Mylo. Christine had lay on the ground to protect the puppy with her body, leaving her vulnerable to the attack.<\/p>\n
