A man died and two other people were injured, one critically, after a shooting Monday night in Denver’s City Park West neighborhood.<\/p>\n
The shooting happened on 17th Avenue near the intersection with Gilpin Street, Denver police said in a 10:04 p.m. post on X.<\/p>\n
Police originally reported three people injured in the shooting, but later clarified only two people were shot. The third person was injured in a crash after the shooting.<\/p>\n
Police said the suspected shooter fired shots, hitting a man driving on 17th. The man crashed, and his passenger was injured in the crash. The man shot died from his injuries.<\/p>\n
A security guard in the area who saw the crash stopped to help, and the suspect also shot him, police said. He is in critical condition.<\/p>\n
The suspect then fled the scene in the security guard’s vehicle, police said, and officers later stopped him near Colfax Avenue and Lincoln Street using a precision immobilization technique, or PIT maneuver. He is now in custody.<\/p>\n
