An 11-year-old girl and two men were injured.<\/p>\n<p>It comes after a BBC investigation in March revealed the number of attacks recorded by police in England and Wales rose 34% between 2018 and 2022. <\/p>\n<p>Here, the Daily Star takes a look at some of the most brutal dog attacks that led to deaths and horrifying injuries.<\/p>\n<h3>Man killed by XL Bully he was looking after for pal<\/h3>\n<p>Jonathan Hogg, 37, was mauled to death when an XL Bully turned on him in Leigh, Greater Manchester, earlier this year. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30933177.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/1_Jonathan-Hogg.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>An inquest opening into his death heard how he was looking after it for a friend.<\/p>\n<p>Police Coroners Officer Julie Ann Hyde told Bolton Coroners Court: &quot;He entered the dogs&apos; pen and one of the dogs attacked him, leaving bite wounds to his arm, leg and head.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>A man, 24, was arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dangerously out of control dog causing injury resulting in death and a woman, 22, was arrested on suspicion of money laundering. Both were bailed and investigations continue.<\/p>\n<h2><span>Mum warned daughter to get rid of XL Bully two weeks before mauling<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Joanne Robinson, 43, was mauled to death at her home in Rotherham by her XL Bully Rocco in July 2022. Her partner Jamie Stead was left seriously injured after trying to fight it off her.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30933133.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/1_Dangerous-Dogs.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure data-mod=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30914354.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s458\/0_SWNSWIRE-Scared-victims-in-shocking-XL-Bully-rampage-footage-speak-out-over-crazy-dog.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p> &apos;Scared&apos; victim in shocking XL Bully rampage footage speaks out over &apos;crazy&apos; dog<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/@trinitymirrordigital\/chameleon-branding\/publications\/dailystar\/img\/logo-schema-dailystar.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Joanne&apos;s mother Dot revealed how Rocco had previously fought with their other dog Lola and that she&apos;d told Joanne to get rid of the dog two weeks before the attack. <\/p>\n<p>She told the Mirror: &quot;I\u2019ve never seen a dog as big as Rocco, he had started fighting with their other dog Lola and I begged her to get rid of one of them.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I warned her what would happen but she adored that dog and said: \u2018I can\u2019t give up on him mum!\u2019&quot;<\/p>\n<h3>Girl, four, savaged by family pet<\/h3>\n<p>Alice Stones was just four when she was mauled to death by a family pet in Milton Keynes in January. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30933175.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s615b\/1_Broadlands.jpg\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<figure data-mod=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk\/incoming\/article30906726.ece\/ALTERNATES\/s458\/0_BANNER-X-Out-of-control-bully-caught-on-camera-attacking-multiple-people-in-terrifying-attack.jpg\"><\/figure>\n<p> Moment out-of-control &apos;XL Bully&apos; frantically attacks multiple people including girl, 11 <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/s2-prod.mirror.co.uk\/@trinitymirrordigital\/chameleon-branding\/publications\/dailystar\/img\/logo-schema-dailystar.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The exact breed of the dog was not revealed but Thames Valley Police confirmed it was &quot;not a banned breed&quot;. Unconfirmed reports suggested it was either an American bulldog or a pit bull-husky cross.<\/p>\n<p>One local whose children went to school with Alice told The Sun: &quot;We heard desperate screams. I heard, \u2018She\u2019s dead! She\u2019s dead!&apos;<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It sounded like Louise [Alice&apos;s mother] shouting.
