Woman who claims she’s Madeleine McCann is ‘happy she is getting the truth’

The Polish woman who thinks she might be Madeleine McCann is "happy" that she "is getting the truth", according to a private investigator.

Julia Wendell, 21, sparked internet mayhem after sharing supposed "evidence" on Instagram suggesting she is Madeleine, the Leicestershire girl who went missing while on a family holiday in Portugal in 2007.

She is now at an undisclosed location in California with private detective and self-professed medium Dr Fia Johansson, who has aided US cops in missing persons cases in the past.

This came after a number of death threats were aimed at Julia, with Dr Johansson saying there was a "price on her head" and whisked her out of the country.

Earlier this week, Dr Johansson shared images of Julia playing the piano at her luxury safehouse, seemingly a property owned by the investigator.

And today (Thursday, March 9) images on Dr Johansson's Instagram showed Julia jumping into a car as the pair continue to probe her claims.

In captions on the posts, Dr Johansson said Julia was at "peace" now she is out of Poland and in safety.

She also said they are "getting the truth" of what has unravelled to be quite the mystery.

Dr Johansson wrote: "Julia enjoying the sunlight. I'm so happy for this beautiful angel that finally found some peace.

"Past seven days, she has been so anxious, so worried, and so lonely. At this moment, she is happy she is not alone, and she is getting the truth."

Julia's family in Poland have denied her claims. According to Dr Johansson, her mum and dad have also blocked Julia's number and are refusing to take a DNA test.

The private detective and her team have been in Wroclaw (the city Julia supposedly grew up in) where she said they found no hospital records for Julia relating to the first five years of her life.

Julia has claimed she does not remember large parts of her childhood, and that she was never treated as part of the family by her parents or siblings.

She also said she was abused by a German paedophile who resembled a one-time suspect in Madeleine's disappearance. She supposedly found a family photo of that man in an older relative's house.

Other "evidence" she has put forward includes a speck in her eye like Madeleine and her allegedly overhearing her mum admit to "taking" her.
