A 22-year-old woman has died after she fell victim to a hit and run, triggering a frantic manhunt.

Two people outside a takeaway were hit in Oswestry, Shropshire, police say after the vehicle mounted the kerb.

Despite both being taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, one of them tragically passed away after arriving.

A "light gold" "champagne" coloured Volvo is now being hunted for by West Mercia Police.

The force has been appealing to members of the public who were in the area at the time to come forward and offer up any information on what happened, although no vehicle has been located so far.

Detective Inspector Dave Bettison, said: “Clearly this is a concerning incident and I’d like to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to locate the vehicle and driver.

“Our thoughts go out to family of the woman who has died as a result of this tragic incident.

“We believe there may have been a number of passengers in the vehicle, and I would also urge them to come forward."

Potential witnesses have been encouraged to look through any footage, be that mobile phone, dashcam or business CCTV, to see if they might have captured anything that might lead cops to find the car.
