UK to be hit with heatwave as temperatures reach 30C in first week of July

Brits will not have to wait too long for the next potential heatwave to hit these shores.

Next Thursday (July 7) is being forecast as the day when temperatures will hit 30C inland again, the Daily Mirror reports.

In fact, even during the first half of next week, many parts of the country will enjoy sunny weather in the high 20s.

Next Friday (July 8) should also see the scorching conditions continue for those living in Sussex, Kent and London.

And, if the sweltering temperatures carry on into a third day, then the UK will have witnessed its second official heatwave of 2022.

Senior meteorologist at British Weather Services, Jim Dale, told the Daily Express: "The situation will be improving on Sunday (July 3) and warming up again into the following week with high temperatures of 30C in south east England based on current trends."

This weekend Brits can expect cooler air to be in place on both Saturday (July 2) and Sunday.

The mercury will be ramped up from Monday (July 4) however as eight days of sunshine are on the way, meaning a red hot second week of tennis at Wimbledonafter the first day was affected by rain.

The second week of July will cool to around 26C in some places but the hot conditions will return later in the summer with heatwaves forecast for both August and September.

Leon Brown, of forecaster The Weather Company, said: "More heatwaves imported from the continent to the UK are forecast this summer. Each are reaching at least 28C – and likely higher – and each lasting several days."

It comes amid flood warningsissued in some parts of the UK as a three-day washout is set to hit the country this week.
