Prince Harry is worried about criticising Netflix over the portrayal of the Royal Family in The Crown as it might “damage the relationship”, a royal expert has argued.

Back in September, it was announced that Harry and Meghan Markle had secured a multi-million dollar deal with the US streaming giant.

The couple said they wanted to create “content that informs but also gives hope”.

Last month, season four of The Crown was released – focusing on the breakdown of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage.

However, royal biographer Howard Hodgson does not think that Harry will want to address any perceived inaccuracies.

She told Express.co.uk : “I think he might be quite worried about speaking out against Netflix, because it might damage the relationship.

“He may perceive Netflix as the hand that feeds him.”

Charles’ friends have spoken out against The Crown and called it “trolling on a Hollywood budget” because of its negative portrayal of the heir in his first marriage.

Another source told the Daily Mail that Prince William has strong sentiments, too.

The insider said: “The Duke of Cambridge is none too pleased with it. He feels that both his parents are being exploited and being presented in a false, simplistic way to make money.”

Earlier this week, Harry admitted this year has been "tough for everybody" in his first appearance since the tragic news that Meghan had suffered a miscarriage.

The Duke of Sussex was speaking at the launch of new Netflix-style streaming platform Waterbear – which focuses on climate documentaries.

In the promo for the channel, he said: “It’s been a universally tough year for everybody.

“Somebody said to me at the beginning of the pandemic, it's almost as though Mother Nature has sent us to our rooms for bad behaviour to really take a moment and think about what we've done.

“It's certainly reminded me about how interconnected we all are, not just as people but through nature.

“We take so much from her and we rarely give a lot back.”
