All parents have different ways of disciplining their children, but one couple's unconventional and cruel method has landed them in hot water.
The parents from Ohio, US, have been temporarily jailed and face trial after their 12-year-old son was discovered hog-tied on the floor of their hotel room by police during a safety check call.
The victim's mother and step-father, Tabetha Sosnowicz, 38, and Jason Sosnowicz Sr., 42, told police that they "normally" tied up their child to "keep him from accessing candy while they are asleep" – but have now been accused of child abuse.

Cops arrived on the scene at the Baymont Hotel in Northwood, Ohio, on July 22, where they found the boy hog-tied on the floor of one of the hotel rooms where the family was living.
Court documents reveal the boy "had his wrists tied behind his back with white shoestrings, and his wrists were tied to his ankles" on the floor, where he had been for about 9.5 hours from 3am until police arrived at 12.30pm.
Mr Sosnowicz was reportedly in the room with the child when police arrived, as were two other children – a six-year-old and a 14-year-old, who were not tied up.
The boy's step-father claimed the boy was tied up because he "gets into things". When his mother arrived, she claimed she knew he was tied up, and both parents confirmed this was something they "normally" did.
A hotel employee said Mr Sosnowicz worked at the hotel where the family were staying long-term.
Mr Sosnowicz’s bond was set at $75,000 (£62,200) and Mrs Sosnowicz’s at $25,000 (£20,725) for their release, and both are currently being held at the Wood County Jail before they appear in court next week.
Both were ordered to have no contact with the victim following the horrifying ordeal.
