Mum who ‘killed and tortured tot’ in 12-hour exorcism says ‘it is what it is’

A mum accused of killing and torturing her toddler during a gruelling 12-hour exorcism ritual has addressed her daughter's death and said "it is what it is".

Arely Naomi Proctor, three, suffered an unimaginable death after her mother Claudia Hernandez and her pastor grandfather tried to cast out a "demon" at the family's Pentecostal church in San Jose, California, USA.

Claudia, 25, is accused of holding and squeezing the little girl's neck and depriving her of food on the day of the exorcism. While pastor Rene Huezo, 59, and the girl's teenage uncle held her down for the twisted act last year September.

Arely's uncle Rene Aaron Hernandez-Santos, 19, and her grandad Rene Trigueros Hernandez, 59, were charged last week. Claudia was charged with assault in January.

Claudia uploaded a video on YouTube and posted about her death on social media and said: "I am at peace, I am happy. The reason I feel what I feel is God. If you don't want to be in my life, that's OK. The only one I need is God.

"Everyone wants to know what happened to her, you know, her cause of death. A lot of people turned on me after my daughter passed away; a lot of people thought a lot of things because of how that situation looked.

"If you weren't there, you don't know what happened. I know what happened. I could sit here and be negative. But there's no point in me doing that. I cannot change what is. It is what it is."

Claudia allegedly stuck her fingers down Arely's throat in a bid to make her throw up and "exorcise" the demon inside her, reports Daily Mail.

It has been reported that she believed her child was possessed because she would wake up in the middle of the night screaming and upset.

Arely lost consciousness and endured "multiple injuries around her eyes, face, neck, and chest," attorney Rebekah Wise wrote in court documents.

Her family allegedly held off from calling 911 for two hours, with Claudia freely admitting to that they didn't try and perform any medical assistance before or after Arely died.

The four-month delay in charging the two men in connection to her death follows new evidence that surfaced from a coroner's autopsy, reports 8NewsNow.

Pastor Huezo told the Mercury News: "If you read the Bible, you'll see that Jesus casts away demons and made sick people healthy again.

"It's not when I want to do it, it's when God, in his will, wants to heal the person. The preacher is like an instrument of God; what we do is what God says."

Her family have since hosted a pink, Disney-themed funeral for Arely.
