One of South America's most popular models has revealed to her 1.9 million fans she is undergoing cancer treatment.

The Colombian model Elizabeth Loaiza Junca has bravely shared with the world her tragic battle with cancer at the age of 31.

She is a former beauty pageant winner, helicopter pilot and one of Colombia's most well-known models with nearly two million followers on Instagram.

The stunning beauty, who began modelling at just four-years-old, recently posted to her fans on social media telling them she has cancer and she will soon start chemotherapy.

She said: “One day you’re fine, and the next you have cancer.

"One could never imagine that after leading a healthy life, exercising, eating well and being a good person, something like this would happen to you.

"You talk to your family on the phone and nobody believes you, or at least they say: 'Nooo, it is not possible, you are a healthy woman'.

"Obviously, for them it is also difficult to hear this.”

It has been a tough year for the model who also suffered from health problems after having an adverse reaction to a biopolymer injection into her bum and she had to have surgery to remove the substance from her body.
