A Met Police officer was jailed for killing a young mum as she crossed the road as he responded to a call doing almost three times the speed limit.
Shante Daniel-Folkes was killed when she was hit by the police car driven by PC Nadeem Patel as he and a colleague in a second car were responding to an emergency call on June 9, 2021.
PC Patel's car hit Ms Daniel-Folkes as he did 80mph in a 30 zone while she was crossing a road in Brixton, and despite the efforts of emergency services she passed away, leaving behind a young son.

Patel was jailed for three years in February after admitting causing death by dangerous driving, but this can only be reported now that the dangerous driving case involving his colleague, Gary Thompson, has finished.
The Sun reported that Thompson led the response to a call at 70mph, and Shante let him pass and then attempted to cross the road again when Patel came up behind Thompson's car and struck her.
It was alleged Patel was too closely following his colleague and didn't have front emergency lights on.
As he braked and turned his speed reduced to 45mph as he struck the young mum.
Prosecutor Jocelyn Ledward said: "Patel drove at grossly excessive speeds for significant distances.
"Even though they were not bound by the speed limit, it would be obvious to a competent and careful driver that driving in this way was dangerous, and it should have been even more obvious to him with his training.

"He was driving at an inappropriately close distance without his front emergency lights illuminated."
He was banned for driving for six years alongside his custodial sentence, and Mr Thompson will be sentenced later.
Shante's mum Janine Daniel wept at the Old Bailey as details of the case were heard. The Sun reported that she cried as the judge said Patel may serve just one-and-a-half years in custody.
"I struggle to think about the night she died when the police knocked on my door," she said.
She added: "I am being tortured everyday by the way her life was cruelly taken away because of his stupidity."
