Kate Middleton “tried as much as possible” to help Meghan Markle as she joined the Royal Family, according to royal commentators.
The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly took Meghan under her wing during the early months of knowing each other.
On Channel 5 documentary, Kate: Our Queen in Waiting, filmmaker and broadcaster Bidisha said: “By all accounts in those early months, she did reach out to Meghan.”
Mail on Sunday Royal Editor Emily Andrews agreed, adding Kate offered to introduce the new royal to any fashion designers she knew.
“Kate did try as much as possible to help Meghan as she entered the royal fray,” she said.
During her interview with Oprah Winfrey, the Duchess of Sussex spoke about how she knew very little about royal conventions before marrying Prince Harry.
And Bidisha said Kate “schooled” Meghan in some of “those English conventions which you may not think about as an arriving American”.
“What are all those unspoken rules that you need to follow when you're a royal?” she continued.
“That makes me think that when it's her time to be the Queen, she herself is going to be kind and warm and opening to successive generations.”
Kate and Meghan attended numerous royal events together during the former actress’ time in the Royal Family.
Among them was Wimbledon, a polo match as well as appearing alongside their husbands at an event that saw them be dubbed the Fab Four.
But there were also fallings out, with Meghan previously claiming to Oprah that she was “left in tears” by a comment her sister-in-law made prior to marrying Harry in 2018.
Since stepping back as senior royals, the so-called rift between Harry and William has also come to the fore.
But the pair will put on a united front when they stand side-by-side at the unveiling of a statue to their late mother Princess Diana on July 1.
