A man has won a lottery prize for the second time in five months, pocketing an eye-watering wad of cash having bought both scratchcards from the same store.
43-year-old James Courtemanche of Ontario, Canada, has collected a whopping $71,000 (£41,421) prize from a scratch-off lottery ticket just five months after winning an $80,000 (46,672) jackpot from another ticket.
James explained: "I couldn't believe it happened again! I was so surprised – and then I remembered good things happen in threes, so I'm ready for my next one."
James revealed he bought an Instant Wild 8 ticket from a store in Sudbury and took it home to scratch it off.
He said he wasn't sure if the ticket was a winner until he scanned it with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation app, which revealed his second life-changing win.
Five months earlier, the winner visited lottery headquarters in Canada to collect an $80,000 jackpot from an Instant Money Match ticket he bought from the same store – Minnow Lake Kwik Way on Brancroft Drive.
James said he does not have any immediate plans for his prize money.
He explained: "With the current pandemic, it's not a good time to make plans. I'm still waiting to book a trip from my first winnings."
Recently, another lucky winner picked up his third jackpot win in just four years.
Terry Splawn from North Carolina, US, claimed his most recent prize on September 8 after his $20 (£14.45) scratchcard delivered a massive $100,000 (£72,235) jackpot.
Back in April 2017, he claimed $1 million (£722,350) after buying a winning Millionaire Bucks ticket from the same shop.
A $150 Million Cash Explosion scratchcard won him his second $1 million in March 2019.
