Kate and William dubbed ‘Prince and Princess of Cocktails’ after drink challenge

Royal fans could not hire their delight after Prince William and Kate Middleton shared a video of themselves facing off in a cocktail making challenge.

The Prince and Princess of Wales posted a 12-second clip on their Twitter account on Thursday (October 6) after they paid a visit to Trademarket, a newly-opened street food market in Belfast, during their one-day trip to Northern Ireland.

Within 12 hours, the video had been viewed almost 390,000 times and attracted 15,000 likes, with the royal duo asking their 2.7million followers: "Who did it better?"

Most argued a smiling Kate, who looked the more confident as she used the shaker and poured her pink drink into a glass, although a longer video of the "competition", that also emerged on the social media platform, appeared to show William finishing making his cocktail the quickest.

Both showed they were good sports at the end of the clip, however, when they toasted each other's efforts by clinking glasses and having a sip of their drinks through straws.

The ingredients for their cocktails were reported to be gin, fruit tea cordial, sherry, a Japanese plum-liqueur called umeshu and lime and passionfruit "bobas", which are described as tapioca starch "pearls" that are found in Taiwanese bubble tea.

In answer to William and Kate's question, one fan said: "I’m going with Catherine but a very close call."

Another, in reference to the couple's recent title changes following the death of William's grandmother the Queen, quipped: "@KensingtonRoyal change (again) the name of this account with The Prince and Princess of COCKTAILS. Love Will and Kate when they do things like this."

A third person enthused "Love their competitiveness", while a fourth added: "Can you be any cooler! I’m wowed!"

One Twitter wag, meanwhile, added a sped-up soundtrack of Gwen Stefani's Rich Girl to the video.
