Kate and Camilla very, very close and are part of new Royal fab four

Kate Middleton and Camilla Parker Bowles closeness has brought about the new royal 'fab four', claims an expert.

The 'very close' relationship between the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Cornwall became apparent when Camilla commissioned Kate to take her portrait for a special cover of Country Life released to mark her 75th birthday, says Vanity Fair's Katie Nicholl.

Speaking on GB News, Katie talked about how close the pair were.

"It's interesting isn't it, we were sitting here talking about the fab four last time and, of course, that was Harry and Meghan and William and Kate and now we talk about a very different fab four," said Katie.

"We are talking about Charles and Camilla and William and Kate."

A royal source said it was Camilla's idea to ask Kate to take the photograph, while Country Life's Paula Lester said they 'could not be happier' with the photoshoot, adding that Kate took the commission 'very seriously' and was 'incredibly professional'.

Paula said she'd spoken to Kate to discuss requirements and was given a range of 'beautifully shot images'.

Camilla's idea to have Kate photograph her for the cover is the latest moment of unity between the Cambridges and the Prince of Wales and Camilla, according to a royal source.

Public events attended by the foursome over the past few months have seen jovial and friendly displays, often led by Kate.

The 40-year-old is also known to have a warm relationship with her father-in-law, also reportedly helping to smooth the relationship between the heir to the throne and her husband, William.

After being warmly welcomed into the family by Charles after her engagement to William, the Duchess been heard affectionately calling him Grandpa in public on previous occasions, often greeting him with a beaming smile, kissing him on the cheek.

She was also photographed comforting the Prince of Wales following Prince Philip's funeral procession last year by putting her hand on his shoulder then kissing him on the cheek as they set off from the entrance of the chapel.

On the second day of the Jubilee celebrations, the foursome exchanged an affectionate greeting at the service of Thanksgiving for the Queen.
