The Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace, announced that around 100 soldiers from the Royal Engineers are being sent to physically reinforce the Polish frontier, as the migrant crisis at the Poland-Belarus border shows no sign of abating. No other EU nation has offered support to Poland. This move comes as Germany comes under fire from European nations who are accusing Germany’s chancellor, Angela Merkel, of siding with Lukashenko and holding back on retaliatory measures such as hitting the Belarusian national airline.
