A final report has ruled that Donald Trump failed to stop violent supporters from storming the US Capitol as well as being part of a conspiracy to overturn his defeat in the 2020 presidential election.
The House Jan. 6 committee's report asserts that the former president was criminally engaged in a "multi-part conspiracy" to overturn the lawful presidential victory of Joe Biden.

The 814-page report released on Thursday included over 1,000 witnesses such as members of law enforcement, a number of the Capitol rioters themselves, as well as Trump's closest aides.
The report reads: "The central cause of January 6th was one man, former President Donald Trump, who many others followed.
"None of the events of January 6th would have happened without him."
The attack on the Capitol threatened democracy and "put the lives of American lawmakers at risk," the nine-member panel concluded.
The committee said that Trump's supporters were inspired by the 76-year-old's consistent claims of voter fraud which gathered mass momentum on social media.
They went on to say that when resorting to violence in their bid to keep Trump in power, the former president did little to stop them in their brazen attack.
The report is a massive blow to Trump, who recently announced his motivation to run again for the presidency in 2024.
